SOMMNI AND PONEY CONTRIBUTE MATTRESSES AND CLOTHING TO ORPHANAGES ACROSS KLANG VALLEY TO COMMEMORATE NEW PRODUCT PARTNERSHIP 

PUTRAJAYA, 29 APRIL 2024 - SOMMNI Sdn. Bhd. (SOMMNI), an aspiring figure in Malaysia’s bedding industry, and PONEY Group (PONEY), a renowned name in children's fashion retail, joined forces in a remarkable collaboration to introduce an innovative kids bedding series across all PONEY stores. The collaboration announcement, made today at PONEY, IOI CITY MALL, marks a significant milestone for both companies, showcasing their joint commitment to delivering quality products for children while actively contributing to the community in the long run.
To mark the official commencement of their partnership, SOMMNI and PONEY initiated the Hearts & Homes: Aidilfitri Charity Launch in the presence of Yang Berhomat (YB) Dato’ Sri Hajah Nancy Shukri, the Minister of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM). As part of this noble endeavour, SOMMNI and PONEY generously donated 100 mattresses from their latest bedding series, and new sets of clothing worth RM55,000 across orphanages in Klang Valley.
YB Dato’ Sri Hajah Nancy Shukri highlighted in her speech, “A collaboration like this proves that we all can and should play our respective roles in making a significant impact on society, especially for those in need. In the context of community development, we must not forget our responsibility to ensure that every individual, especially marginalised groups, have access to the resources and support they need.”
SOMMNI embarked on its journey in 2017 to provide surplus mattresses sourced from the company’s Export & OEM manufacturing division to the domestic market, ensuring accessibility at reasonable prices. Nonetheless, the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic prompted a deliberate reassessment of its strategic direction, culminating in the resurgence and repositioning of SOMMNI as a distinguished 'Mattress in a Box' brand.
After a vigorous two-year research and development (R&D) phase and meticulous sourcing of materials, the group debuted its first “SOMMNI” mattress, followed by an expansion of its product range to include 40 different offerings catered to direct consumers, hotels, hostels, interior design companies, and more.
In August 2023, an opportunity with PONEY was presented to curate a new baby and kids bedding series. While initially reserved to enter the market due to the lack of SOMMNI-branded kids or baby items, discussions with PONEY revealed a shared commitment to nurturing children's growth through each other’s products, and most importantly, corporate social responsibility.

CHINESE NEW YEAR DINNER IN CELEBRATION OF THE DRAGON YEAR

24th Jan 2024, Petaling Jaya – The Malaysia Retail Chain Association (MRCA) organized 
its grand Chinese New Year Celebration, themed "Enter The Dragon" in honor of the 
auspicious Dragon Year.
This exclusive event took place on Wednesday, the 24th of January 2024, at One World 
Hotel, Petaling Jaya, bringing together prominent figures, industry leaders, and 
members of the retail community to usher in the Lunar New Year with joyous festivities. 
The event welcomed over 1,350 guests, all gathered to celebrate this joyous occasion 
together.
According to the Co-Organizing Chairperson of the MRCA CNY 2024 Dato’ Alex Wong and 
Mr. Brian Tham, “As the premier association representing the retail sector in Malaysia, 
MRCA's Chinese New Year Dinner serves as a platform for fostering camaraderie, building 
strategic partnerships, and celebrating the shared successes within the retail industry. 
This year's event is particularly significant as it aligns with the symbolic and energetic 
spirit of the Dragon Year, signifying strength, prosperity, and good fortune.”
Key Objectives of the Chinese New Year Celebration within MRCA:
Networking Opportunities: The dinner provides an exclusive setting for members of the 
Malaysia Retail Chain Association to network with fellow industry professionals, 
fostering collaboration and relationship-building. This serves as a catalyst for future 
partnerships and collaborations within the retail community.
Cultural Exchange: Embracing the rich cultural diversity of Malaysia, the Chinese New 
Year celebration acts as a bridge for cultural exchange among MRCA members. This not only enhances mutual understanding but also strengthens the unity within the retail community, transcending cultural boundaries.
MRCA's Chinese New Year Dinner was privilege to have a Guest of Honor to be to grace 
this auspicious occasion and he is non-other than the Minister of Transport, YB Tuan 
Anthony Loke. MRCA President Dato’ Sharan Valiram commented that it was YB’sattendance made it even more special to all Retail Members of the Association and its Invited Guest. What a great way to start the beginning of the Year of the Dragon. 
During the night, the MRCA Branding Education Charity Foundation donated RM25,000 
to the Ti-Ratana Welfare Society Malaysia – Bentong Building Fund in support of their cause. The MRCA Branding Education Charity Foundation Chairman, Datuk Seri Nelson Kwok; MRCA Branding Education Charity Foundation Founder Chairman, Dato’ Tay Sim Kim; MRCA Branding Education Charity Foundation Trustees, Dato’ Eddie Choon; Datuk 
Albert Chiang; Datuk Lee Hwa Cheng; Dato’ Liaw Choon Liang; Datuk Seri Garry Chua;

The Malaysia Retail Chain Association (MRCA) marked the joyous occasion of Chinese New Year with a grand gala night titled 'Enter the Dragon' on January 24, 2024, hosted at the prestigious One World Hotel, Petaling Jaya.

Gathering nearly 1,400 participants, the event showcased a vibrant tapestry of guests adorned in traditional Chinese attire from various sectors including retailing, shopping malls, property development, and financial institutions. The remarkable success of the evening owes much to the diligent efforts of the Organizing Committee, led by President YBhg Dato’ Sharan, Organizing Chairman YBhg Dato' Alex Wong, and Deputy OC Brian Tham.

MALAYSIA TO HOST MISS WORLD NOBLE QUEEN 2023

Malaysia Gears Up to Host Miss World Noble Queen 2023, Showcasing Beauty and Environmental Advocacy

Malaysia is all set to host the 6th. Edition of Miss World Noble Queen pageant in December 2023 after a three-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions.

Themed 'Protecting the Environment,' the Miss World Noble Queen 2023 pageant aims to transcend traditional beauty pageantry by celebrating both outer and inner beauty, talent, wisdom, and promoting environmental awareness alongside other charitable causes.

Jan Sit, the founder of Miss World Noble Queen and the beauty queen of Mrs World Noble Queen Tourism International pageant 2015, expressed her delight in announcing Malaysia as the host for this prestigious competition. She stated, "We are pleased to announce that Malaysia will host the 6th. Edition of Miss World Noble Queen 2023 pageant. This is a valuable opportunity for us to showcase the beauty and cultural diversity of Malaysia to the world. This global pageant will promote Malaysian tourism through the country's rich cultural and landscape diversity and put Malaysia on the world map for beauty pageants."

The event is expected to bring together 25 Miss World Noble Queen delegates from around the world, representing countries such as Greece, Moldova, Germany, Czech Republic, Georgia, Slovakia, Estonia, Belarus, Switzerland, France, Romania, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, Kenya, Japan, India, China, and the host nation, Malaysia.

The competition is scheduled to unfold over eight days, commencing with the arrival of the participants on December 5. Jan Sit emphasized that the Miss World Noble Queen 2023 pageant has garnered support from Tourism Malaysia, an agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture. This collaboration aims to not only highlight the beauty and hospitality of Malaysia but also to showcase the nation's commitment to environmental stewardship.

In addition to the main event, various programs, including art and cultural heritage activities, have been curated for all participants as integral components of the competition. Jan Sit affirmed, "All participants will be provided with traditional art and culture experiences and visit tourist attractions and famous landmarks in the country."

As Malaysia prepares to host this international spectacle, the Miss World Noble Queen 2023 pageant is poised to not only crown a deserving queen but also to serve as a platform for promoting environmental consciousness and cultural exchange on a global stage. This event signifies a significant step towards the revival of beauty pageants in the post-pandemic era, demonstrating Malaysia's resilience and commitment to fostering international connections through the celebration of beauty, talent, and environmental responsibility.

The Miss World Noble Queen pageant was last held in 2019 in Hong Kong, and won by Miss France Sonia Mansur.

Malaysia had last hosted the international pageant in 2015 and 2016, after which the pageant was hosted abroad, first in Myanmar (2017), then in Cambodia (2018) and in Hong Kong (2019).

The much-anticipated 6th edition of Miss World Noble Queen 2023 Grand Finale will take place on December 12, 2023 at Berjaya Times Square Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
