Youth Orchestra in Support of End Polio Now
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – 22 April 2026 – Rotary International District 3300, in collaboration
with the Rotary Club of Rahman Putra as co-organiser, proudly presents a special Charity
Concert at the prestigious Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS (DFP). This meaningful evening
brings together music, community, and purpose in support of Rotary’s global End Polio Now
campaign.
Taking centre stage is the Selangor Symphony Youth Orchestra (SSYO), a dynamic
ensemble of young musicians whose passion and dedication embody the spirit of hope and
progress. Under the baton of internationally acclaimed maestro Eugene Pook, the orchestra
will deliver an inspiring programme that blends artistic excellence with a powerful humanitarian
mission.
The evening will also feature celebrated local vocalists Eddie Yang Ting, Angeline Wong
Xiao Feng,and Estee Pook, creating a compelling collaboration between emerging orchestral
talent and established voices in Malaysia’s music scene.
This year’s concert is proudly supported by Beacon Hospital, whose commitment to
advancing healthcare extends beyond clinical care to champion global health initiatives. Their
support reflects a shared vision with Rotary to eradicate preventable diseases and improve
lives worldwide.

Through its End Polio Now campaign, Rotary and its global partners have reduced polio
cases by 99.9%, immunising over 2.5 billion children across 122 countries.

to eradicate. Supporting this effort is part of our responsibility as a healthcare institution

Funds raised from the concert will directly support ongoing vaccination and awareness
initiatives. Contributions will be further amplified through Rotary’s partnership with the Bill &
Melinda Gates Foundation, which matches every donation 2:1—tripling the impact of each
contribution.

against a preventable disease,” said Charter President Dr Chua Keng Soon of Rotary
District 3300. “With the support of partners like Beacon Hospital, we are reminded that
meaningful change happens when compassion meets action.”
