Malaysia Fashion Week 2015 brings down the curtains in an opulent celebration of world-class talent " Mercedes-Benz STYLO Asia Fashion Week Awards honours Asia's finest designers ".
Malaysia's national trade promotion agency MATRADE in partnership with STYLO International unveiled an exciting series of fashion shows and a fashion and lifestyle trade exhibition, featuring the spring/summer 2016 collection of over 60 Malaysian designers at its Malaysia Fashion Showcase and over 30 international designers at its Mercedes-Benz STYLO Asia Fashion Week together with an exhibition of 290 booths of Malaysian and International businesses of fashion apparels, accessories, cosmetics and personal care as well as textile.
The night began on a traditionalnote, with Padusi by Rozita Che Wan - a renowned TV personality - showcasing a sultry collection accentuated by lace facial veils, and glamorous dresses festooned with feather and gold detailing.Padusi encapsulates MODEST-YLE, one of the fashion week's core platforms that was launched by Islamic Fashion and Design Council Chairperson Alia Khan two days ago during the trade fashion showcase.
Malaysian opulence reigned throughout the Zang Toi Spring Summer 2016 collection showcase. New York based Malaysian designer Zang Toi, in his collection of 24 designs, bestowed women's suits, cocktail dresses and gowns with imperial brocade embellishments depiciting traditional shadow puppet silhouettes.
Nine designers, as part of the TREE OF LIFE showcase- co-organized by World Crafts Council and curated by designer extraordinarie Edric Ong- raises awareness through high-style couture for the ingenuous use of natural and sustainable materials for their designs. The showcase revealed a collection of exquisite designs from Bhutan's Chimmi Choden, Asid Shaikh from India, Aidai Chochunbaeva of Kyrgyzstan and Malaysia's very own Edric Ong.
#MFW2015 - a 4 days event from 4 - 7 November in Kuala LUmpur- brought together local and international fashion exhibitors at a dedicated fashion/lifestyle trade exhibition - FACIT@INTRADE - and designers for a fashion showcase. The closing incorporated the prestigious Mercedes-Benz STYLO Asia Fashion Week Awards recognising the talents of the region's established designers and a StarWars inspired fashion showcase.
This year, MFW 2015 focused around YOUTH ENGAGEMENT with broad-based programs highlighting young designers, fashion expressions by design and fashion students and youth collaborations with the fashion and music industry. In keeping with this direction, MFW2015 introduces another sought after award, Professor Jimmy ChooAward - Emerging Designer of the year 2015 in two categories Fshion and Accessories, where young, emerging designers will be recognised and stand a chance to win a coveted fashion mentorship with the famous personality in London.
