MRCA CHRISTMAS CHARITY CELEBRATION 2019
PRESS RELEASE
MRCA CHRISTMAS CHARITY CELEBRATION 2019
Puchong, 7th December 2019 – The Malaysia Retail Chain Association (MRCA) under the
leadership of then MRCA President, Dato’ Tay Sim Kim, set up the MRCA Branding
Education Charity Foundation in the year 2010 with the RM1 million fund raised. With the
set-up of this Foundation, the MRCA started to work on giving back to the society through
visitations and donations to Charitable Homes during Malaysian Festive Seasons.
One of Foundation’s main projects is to give back to the community. In conjunction with the
Christmas festivities and celebration that is coming up, MRCA has invited 50 children from four
different homes / centre (Lighthouse Children Welfare Home, Praise Emmanuel Children’s
Home, Rumah Kanak-Kanak Impian and Neighbourhood Learning Centre Kepong) to spread
some festive joy with cash and goods donations.
A fun talent show was organized amongst three of the homes and the winner was Rumah Kanak-
Kanak Impian with their dancing performance. On top of that, the children were also treated to a
special song performance by MRCA President, Datuk Seri Garry Chua who performed a few
Christmas songs. The children were each presented with goodies, treated to lunch prepared by
Marrybrown, enjoyed face painting session and got a chance to interact with Frozen characters
by cosplayers who volunteered.
MRCA (through its Foundation) and its Members donated a total of RM16,500 worth of cash
and goods to these four bodies. We would also like to acknowledge some MRCA members that
have generously supported this celebration through their donations. They are:
• Marrybrown – Venue, Food & Drinks
• GoodMorning Global – Goodie bags
• The Famous Amos Cookies – Cookies
• Embun Elit (Himalaya) – Body wash
• Delfi Marketing – Tidbits & snacks
• Transtel Technology – Packet drinks
The residents of Taman Paramount, Petaling Jaya also donated some goodies for the children.
We hope that with this donation, we can help promote awareness amongst our community about
the existence of the less fortunate and be grateful for our blessings. With the blessings we receive,
we should all give back to the community from time to time to show our love and support
towards our society.

KNOWLEDGE TUMBLES FROM BEYOND THE SNOWS OF CHRISTMAS!
@ BERJAYA TIMES SQUARE HOTEL, KUALA LUMPUR
DECEMBER 2019 – The annual tradition of the season of giving has returned this year at Berjaya Times Square Hotel Kuala Lumpur (BTHKL) through the proliferation of knowledge and wisdom via our CSR event, the Gift of Knowledge, proudly co-sponsored by Times Bookstore, Ty Malaysia, AiFM, The Giving Bank, and Orient Snow. This earnest tradition that merges the spirit of love, giving, sharing, and celebrating comes together with a resplendent Christmas indulgence for a total of 50 children from three orphanage homes: Trinity, Rumah Hope, and Assunta. BTHKL takes great pride and gratification in our effort to make significant contributions through our series of CSR activities and events, which goes in line with the company’s objective to give back to the community. The event will be held at the Manhattan Ballroom, located on the 14th floor.
For this year’s CSR, commemorating the spirit of Christmas celebration, BTHKL is pleased to present the Gift of Knowledge campaign that promotes the unparalleled value and merit of knowledge, wisdom, and education. As such, we have come together to provide a deeply educational and rewarding experience for all the children involved. The Book Wish List will be hung on the Christmas tree at participating Times Bookstore outlets in Klang Valley for guests to purchase books for the children.
We are enormously honored to have a collaborative effort with our esteemed partners and sponsors, AiFM, Times Bookstore, Ty Malaysia, The Giving Bank and Orient Snow, who are responsible for transforming our Manhattan Ballroom into a magical, winter celestial for one whole day. This includes artificial snows that carpet the entire ballroom floor, which brings the ambiance and backdrop of winter to our guests and children. On the other hand, fitting the theme of knowledge, wisdom, and education, the Times Bookstore is responsible for providing a stable resource for books and other publications for the event.
To start off the magical and phenomenal journey for the children, we have prepared an exceedingly exceptional treat for them, starting with a breath-taking performance from our specially invited singers, including Ashley Yemurai (winner of the 4th edition of Pertandingan Nyanyian Lagu-Lagu Melayu Antarabangsa (PALMA 2018), Black GS, Man Hong (beatboxer), Eva & Louis, and our premier main singer, which will only be revealed during the event. Other activities lined up for the event include a Quiz Session, TV Fashion Show, Xmas Gift Presentation, Cake-Cutting Ceremony, and the New Year Song Sing-Along as the finale. This year’s line-up for this event is guaranteed to absolutely entertain and enthral the children, as they embark on an extraordinary journey that enables them to create a lasting, unforgettable memory with BTHKL and our proud sponsors.
The General Manager of BTHKL, Mr. Hugo Gerritsen, had stated that “It is of the utmost importance that we corroborate Christmas as an opportunity for us to provide a powerful, empowering experience for the children through our Gift of Knowledge CSR event. This particular event serves as a platform for us to expand our resources for a charitable cause, while also serving as a way of giving back to the community and sharing our love and care with them. As always, we will strive to ensure that this year’s CSR will be the best one we have ever organized with our sponsors!”
Once more, we would like to cordially express our greatest thank you and gratitude to our sponsors: Times Bookstore, AiFM, TY Malaysia, The Giving Bank, and Orient Snow, not only for their collaborative excellence, but also for their time, effort, and resources. This event would not have been possible without their sincere involvement.
Trinity Children’s Home is located at 5, Jalan Bukit Menteri Utara 7/4, Seksyen 7, 46050 Petaling Jaya, Selangor while Rumah Hope is located at No.45, Jalan 20/2, Paramount Garden, 46300 Petaling Jaya, Selangor and Assunta Children Society is located at 12, Jalan 1/3, Seksyen 1, 46000 Petaling Jaya, Selangor
